Lesson 2 - Consonant Sounds

b sounds like the letter <b> in the words bat, bop, barber.

ch sounds like the <sh> in the words shack, ship, shelter.

d sounds like the <d> in the words dip, day, dam.

dj sounds like the <j> in the words  job, jump, jet.

f sounds like the <f> in the words fight, fit, fail.

g sounds like the <g> in the words gain, gallop, gift. (Never as barge, large, espionage)

h sound like the <h> in the words hop, help, helmet.

j sounds like the <g> in the word genre. (Never as in Job or Jesus)

k sounds like the <k> in the words kelp, cool, cola.

l sounds like the <l> in the words love, lips, lever.

m sounds like the <m> in the words melt, milk, mate.

n sound like the <n> in the words nap, net, nick.

ng sounds like the <ng> in the words finger, five, fringe.

p sounds like the <p> in the words pet, petal, parish.

r sound like the <r> in the words radio, rapper, rip. (Only heard in words derived from English)

s sounds like the <s> in the words sun, summer, Sam

t sounds like the <t> in the words time, tin, tap.

tj sounds like the <ch> in the word chapel, chapter, chart.

v sounds like the <v> in the words vault, victory, Venice.

w sounds like the <w> in the words wealth, weapon, whisky.

y sounds like the <y> in the words yellow, yell, yap.

z sounds like the <z> in the words zip, zap, zilch.
