Lesson 3 - You and I

mwen means I
mon also means I (mon is a variant of mwen)

Ou means you
W also means you (w is a contraction of ou)

Example using Mwen:
Mwen ka palé ba ou - I am speaking to you.
Mwen ka palé ba'w - I am speaking to you.

Example using Mon:
Mon bizwen ou - I need you.
Mon pa bizwen'w - I don't need you. (pa makes the sentence negative)

The pronoun ou is contracted when it appears after words ending in vowels (oral or nasalised). When contracted it becomes w. In all other instances, it remains ou.

1. Mwen kwè'w - I believe you.

2. Mwen pa kwè'w - I don't believe you.

3. Mon enmen'w - I love you.

4. Mon pa enmen'w - I don't love you.

Mesi, sé tout. - Thank you, that's all.
